Spelling Bee

My sister informed my that I've been mispelling the word "Nephew", I've been spelling it "nefew".... I thought it looked wrong. That's probably why in elementary school I was not only the first one to start the spelling bee, but the first one to loose..... The word that I lost on was "amendment". I should probably use Webster's more often.

Weekend to Remember

Isabel had another fun-filled weekend.... We went to see "Elmo Live" on Friday night. All went well. She wasn't overly estactic but would say "Hi Memo" when he was on stage. We got off easy because she didn't ask for an $8 Elmo balloon, not that we would have bought it. Saturday she went with her Tia Felicia to Medival Times. I hear she was wavying her flag and was a pro at eating with her hands. My mom bought her a princess hat, so I thing I'm going to make her new room the princess theme (castle and all) I want to buy her the castle bed, or tent for her bed.
Friday when we got home we were watching T.V. and she heard a doorbell. She immediatly looked towards our front door and said "Tia". We had to tell her that Tia wasn't here and that it was just the TV....

On the homefront.....
Installation is going to be put in today and drywall will be started tomorrow. Floors will be put in starting next week. We will buy our flooring on Sunday. We have to close April 22, so keep us in your prayers.....

Quote for today....
What you say about yourself means nothing in God's work. It's what God says about you that makes the difference. 2 Cor 10:18 MSG

Umm Good!

Yesterday I decided that I wanted to cook something good (some good mexican food). After I picked up the girls I went to my in-laws house and picked up my mother-in-law. She took me to "La Mexicana" - a mexican meat market. There I bought milanesa (thin cuts of meat) and other items. Fast foward to 1 hour later. My mom, sister, and I were sitting in our chairs stuffed. My mom saying I knew I shouldn't have eaten those beans and tortillas. My nefew saying, "Tia, I'm going to fart louder now", he's four... that was how I got him to eat in the first place, I told him that beans make you fart louder. He thought that was cool. And me, proud that I'd learn yet another quick and healthy meal to make for my family. A meal that not only would please my husband, but would please his stomach as well. Cause we all know that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach.

Got that from me....

I was reading a story from someone I know, and she inspired me to write this.....

Isabel: - She's a "Gomez" to the core.
Her stubborness, she got that from me.
Her curly hair, she got that from me.
Her eyes, she got that from me.
Her mood swings, she got that from me.
Her loud voice, she got that from me.
Her "you can't bully me", she got that from me.
Her intelligence, well you can say she got that from both of us

Emma:
She's all Eddie.
Her ears, her eyes, her cheeks, her complextion.... We are still getting to know her, so we don't know whose personality she'll favor, I hope it's Eddie's as well.

Take me literally

I realized yesterday that I have to be careful of what I say to Isabel. I put her in timeout again for hitting her cousin. After explaining why she was there I walked away. Immediately she turned away from the wall to face me. I said "turn around", so she made a complete 360 turn. I tried so hard not to laugh. Eddie told her again in spanish, and she did the same thing. I told Eddie that we have to teach her a new phrase "face the wall".
It's amazing how much she's imitating now. I'm going to really focus on teaching her alot of new things within the coming months, her brain is like a sponge, she's picking up everything. It so cute cause before she would count in english, and yesterday we caught her counting in spanish. I hope that she doesn't loose her spanish once she starts going to preschool.
I came into work today and learned some really cool stuff about the bible from my boss. I can't wait to share this new found knowledge tonight at bible study. Hope everyone has a blessed day and remember, "if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can move mountains...." Matt 17:20

Afternoon Picnic

Yesterday was such a beautiful day. After work I went home to pick up the girls wagon and food, then I picked up the girls and we met my sister and nefew at the park and had a picnic. It was so beautiful. We ate sandwiches, strawberries and grapes... Yum. It was a good experience for Isabel, and Emma. Isabel kept walking back and forth from the grass and the dirt. She's done that before. When we were in Crane before my great aunt died and Isabel wasn't even walking, she would crawl back and forth from the carpet to the wood floor. I think she likes exploring textures.

Emma is so cute... she's trying to turn over on her stomach, but doesn't like being on her stomach for very long.. I try making a game out of it... I'll sign the alphabet or twinkle twinkle to get her attention. If I try to kiss her on the neck she laughs so hard, she's such a happy baby. At night when I put her in bed awake, she just looks at me one last time and falls asleep. She's such a good baby. I'm truly blessed.

Speak to me Lord

I just finished reading a blog from someone I know. She talked about how God spoke directly to her this sunday. That so happened to me. Our pastor's sermon was on "Confronting your culture"... He talked about how materialism won't bring us happiness, and that true happiness comes from the Lord. He talked about how we out to be thankful for what we have, and always give God our 1st 10%... None of this was new to me, heck I even teach these principles in my wednesday nite class. But nevertheless God was speaking directly at me. I have to confess that I don't manage God's money as well as I should. I've maxed my credit card out again, and it was paid off.... I want to just kick myself... Well I made a pact with God that I was going to cut them up. If I don't have the money to buy the stuff, then I'll go home empty handed. It's not like this concept is new, there was a point in my life when I didn't have money to spend or credit cards and I was just fine.... no worries....

"Be on your guard against greed in any shape for form. For a man's real life in no way depends on the number of his possesions" Luke 12:15
This verse really spoke to me. I never thought that I was materialistic, because I could care less about brand names or the such. But when something new comes out, I've just got to have...at least I think I do.... The newest thing on my list is a mini iPod... do I need it? of course not I've gone 29 years without one... but it sure wouldl be cool to have one. I've decided if it's something that I really want I'm going to have to save up for it.... I need to start living by my own advice if I expect my kids to follow my advice when the time comes...

"He who loves money shall never have enough. The foolishness of thinking that wealth brings happiness! The more you have the more you spend... " Eccl. 5:10-11

THIS IS SO TRUE!!!!!!

Not my nose

Friday was a bad day for Emma..... She had to go to the doctor and get shots... She did not like that one bit. And then when we got home Isabel decided that she wanted to play mommy and got the bulb suringe and stuck it up Emma's nose... All I heard was a scream. I didn't get mad at Isabel, cause she was only trying to help, but I did tell her not to do it again... poor Emma, I must a really hurt because she would cry if I even got near her nose... she was traumatized the rest of the night, but she's over it now.

Gymboree

Well I signed Isabel up at the Gymboree. She's in the play class. There are alot of colorful mats and things to climb up, crawl through, and slide down. She had alot of fun especially during the parachutte time. I've decided that's where we are going to have her birthday party at this year. All the kids will have a blast. We started really working on colors. She can say all the colors, but we are going to work on one color a week this week is yellow (amarillo). Before church I was fixing her hair in her bathroom that there was a duck sponge on the counter. She picked it up and said moo moo. Then she really looked at it and said quack quack quack... I thought that was really cool.

Saturday night as Eddie and I were watching TV, I heard her singing, so I stop to listen and realized she was singing the Barney song, not the right rhythm... it was cute.. very short syllabels.... "I love you, you love me...blah blah blah... happy... ly".

Now at night when we pray together, we've started kneeling beside her bed.... It's so cool to see her pray at night, I can't wait until she starts voiceing her own prayers to God.

Friday after work I went to Khols's to look for Elmo shoes.. they had them but not in her size.... so I handed her the Dora the Explorer shoes... She liked them because they light up... She kept hitting the bottom of the shoe with her hand to make the lights go off, and then she brought the shoe to me and said "ato" short for "sapato"... she wanted me to put them on her feet... she was so proud of those shoes that in the car she kept saying "mommy ato ato" and would lift up her foot for me to see her new brand shoes...

Pow-Pow

Isabel is getting into a habit of hitting. She thinks it's a game. As she hits she says "pow pow". She had to go into timeout like 3 times today because she either hit me or Emma. I hope she grows out of this stage soon. I went shopping for Emma today. She has out grown her 0-3 months clothes. She goes to the doctor again tomorrow for her 4 month checkup, and to get shots. I'm am not looking forward to that. Poor baby. I hope she can tough it out. I'll let you know how it goes. Well we've had a long day and I need to get some sleep. Both girls are already sleeping. They are so great! Tomorrow is Friday! YEAH!

Humming Bird

Isabel and I have a routine. When I pick her up from Sophia's house (her nanny). We always sing songs in the car. Such as Twinkle, Twinkle.... (tinkle) Itsy bitsy spider... On top of spaghetti.... la la la la Elmo's world.... and the Barney song (Narney).... Her favorite is "Tinkle"

Yesterday as we were singing I guess she got tired because she started humming. She realized that this was something new to her and said "mommy, mommy... and started humming Twinkle" It's so cool to see her learn new things everyday.

She's learning that Emma has a name besides "Chita" short for "Chiquita" or "Baby"..... When she says Emma she pronounces it "Mema"... Not to be confused with "Memaw" (grandma) or "Memo" (Elmo)....

Tonight we are taking food to a family from our church. The wife had surgery on her foot. When something like this happens to one of our members. The women take food to the family for a week. Doing these type of activities as a family will hopefully show our children about compassion, and mission work.

May everyone who reads this have a blessed day.

Summer in February

Yesterday, was such a beautiful day. It was a high of 87 degrees. When I picked Isabel and Emma up from the sitters' house, Isabel had a carpet burn on her face "ouch", she doesn't look to good. She loves her new pick converse look-a-likes. She loves shoes, she's always showing them off. Typical girl. I called my friend Dixie who lives in New Braunsfels, she said she was at the park with her 3 kids. I thought what a good idea. I didn't have time to go to the park but I loaded both Isabel and Emma into the wagon and walked all over the neighborhood. Isabel was carrying on a conversation with her little sister. I'm not sure about everything she said, but it sounded like she was giving her some advice, and then scolding her, because next thing I know Isabel is saying "Pow Pow" and hitting Emma on the leg. Of course I scolded Isabel right then and there, and told her "No Pow Pow Emma". We got back to the house and I sat on the bench with Emma while Isabel played in the yard. She is so easily entertained. "Mommy, look at me" she was holding onto the tree and just walking around it saying "Weeee".

As I was sitting and talking to Emma, she was so intent on telling me something. Her facial expressions were great. I think she was tattle-telling on Isabel...

Our house is a wreck, I've got tons of laundry to fold... what a blessing. I look at all the laundry and think God is so good to us that we have an abundance of clothing for our children and for ourselves... Thank You Lord.

All's Well...

The girls went to the doctor yesterday... Isabel has an ear infection and Emma has fluid in her ear. Yuk!. They both have to take anitbiotics 2 times a day. We had a good valentines day. I bought Isabel a candy necklace, but didn't show her that she could eat it. When we were in the car, I hear "crunch", I look back and she's eating the necklace. It amazed me that she figured out it was edible.Mom watched the girls and we went to the Movie Tavern, where you can watch a movie and have dinner, we saw the movie Hitch. We liked it. Eddie bought me a cute little ring white gold with two hearts with diamonds in them. Very sweet! Also he got mom, his mom, and me a dozen roses. Got home exhausted and went straight to sleep. Today is a new day.

The House: Brick

Well the brick is done on the house, Eddie is having the inspector come out today to inspect. They should start installing the foam insulation this week.... next would be the drywall. We've hired a painter so he'll start to paint the outside this week also.... I've got to start packing, just don't know where to put all my boxes at, and I've got to find the time.

50th Wedding Anniversary

Isabel learned a new phrase this weekend. "Donde esta".... It is so cute. She'll say "Donde esta leche" (where are you milk?). We went to Odessa to celebrate my grandparents 50th anniversary. My grandpa got my grandma a 2 carat diamond ring. Beautiful. My grandma got my grandpa a laptop. He loves it. Emma was sick this whole weekend. I'm going to make an appointment for her to see the doctor today. She scheduled for her 4 month checkup this friday, so I'm going to see if they can do that today too. She's having alot of coughing and flem, and congestion. Pray that she gets better.
At my grandma's house there is a little indian baby that is on her knees with her head laying on a little drum.. my grandma has it on a little footstool in the living room. Well we removed the indian cause Isabel dropped it on the floor and we were afraid she break it. Well Eddie caught her on the stool with her head on the little drum just like the baby indian.. it was so cute... I'll post the picture later...

If you ask her "Como te amas" (What's your name?), she'll pat her tummy and say ("Bell"), Can't believe she's going to be 2 in may...
