One Step Closer

Isaac is eating by bottle every other feeding. Today at 6:00 he drank him whole bottle in 15 minutes. Tomorrow, we'll meet with the OT to see when I can start nurseing him. Three other babies get to go home tomorrow. I can't wait until I get the phone call that we get to go home. My hope is that he'll be home before Christmas.

How He Arrived

Friday

On Thanksgiving Morning my water broke around 4:30 am. I went to the hospital around 7:30 am. I was put on meds to stop the contractions, and also some antibiotics to prevent infection. I have also been given steroid shots to help Isaac's lungs grow faster. They are hoping he stays put until 34.4 - 35 weeks, as long as there is no infection or anything else. Either way the longer he stays in the better for him. So I'm stuck here in room 2320 at Arlington Memorial Hospital until he is born. Today was great the meds that they gave me have pretty much stopped the contractions. I've been taken off the monitors. Baby is doing awesome. I will keep you guys updated if anything changes.

Monday

Isaac Joel Valenzuela was born at 2:31 am on Sunday November 30, 2008
He weighs 4 lbs 9 oz 17 inches long
Currently he is in NICU.
He was taken off of his ventilator just around 11 am on Sunday, so he's breathing without help. All we are waiting on now is that he learns how to feed off of a bottle. I am at home and am doing well. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Tuesday

We got to hold Isaac yesterday and today. They took off his arterial line, so that's good. He ate some yesterday from a bottle, but not much so they began tube feeding.
Today he ate better. So we'll se how he does tomorrow with the OT. As the nurse was feeding him, he heard me talk and immediately opened his eyes, so I got to hold him and spend some time with him while he was awake. I can't wait to see him tomorrow.

You're an incredibly thankful person, and everyone around you feels very appreciated.

You inspire people to be more optimistic, forgiving, and grateful.

Leadership

How to be a good leader. This is a tough one. I struggle with it everyday, as I try to lead my children in becoming godly women and responsible adults. As I try to lead at my workplace and at my church.
"You can't lead someone where you've never been before yourself"
I have had some great leaders in the past, I was blessed to have great bosses. I have also served under bad leadership as well. And that is no fun at all.

I gave my husband the Maxwell Leadership Bible over a year ago, and I can see how he has grown in this area. I also see where I fall short.

Just wanted to share what I read today

Relationships: If You Get Along, They Will Go Along. Romans 12:9-21

Many leaders commit the error of separating leadership from relationships. This happens when a person steps into a position of leadership and assumes that everyone will follow his or her ideas because of his or her positon. Some leaders wrongly believer that their knowledge alone qualifies them to lead others.
People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. We cannot separate leadership from relationships. Leaders help themselves by developing good relational skills. Paul instructs us how to lead through relationships.

1. Avoid hypocrisy - be sincere and genuine (v.9)
2. Be loyal to colleagues - treat others like brothers and sisters (v10)
3. Give preference to others - honor the desires of others above your own. (v10)
4. Be hospitable - look for ways to meet the needs of others. (v13)
5. Return good for evil - act, don't react, when others hurt you. (v14)
6. Identify with others - treat others' needs or victories as your own. (v15)
7. Be open-minded toward others - seek to connect with anyone you speak to. (v16)
8. Treat everyone with respect - this is a compliment to any person. (v17)
9. Do everything possible to keep peace. - choose wisely which hill to die on. (v18)
10. Remove revenge from your life. - let God judge others; you love them. (vv 19-21)

My comments:
1. I hope I have this one down. I don't like two-faced people, I strive to be transparent and be myself everywhere I go and to everyone I meet. If I like you, you know it. If I don't like you, you know it as well.
2. I am loyal to my colleagues, and would never throw someone under the bus for my mistakes.
3. I struggle with this one a bit.. sometimes I just want it my way.
4. I love helping people when I can (emphasis on WHEN I CAN), sometimes I just have to say "NO", I've tried to learn what my limitations are. So when I feel like there is too much on my plate I say "NO" to the next request comes along. I feel bad but not that bad. My sanity is important to me.
5. This one is hard, because in my heart when someone hurts me, I so want them to just hurt them back and make them feel just as bad as I do.
6. I love it when people are blessed. I think it's awesome to see God work in others lives. Also it sucks when others are going through bad times, I try to put myself in there postion to see how I can help. This has gotten me in trouble in the past because then some people take advantage of my willingness to help.
7. I try to do this, like this weekend at the movies, we were sitting next to a girl that was by herself and we tried to includ her in our coversations and stuff.
8. I struggle at this as well. It's hard to treat someone with respect when you have lost respect for that person. Did I mention this is HARD.
9. I try to keep the peace, when I've been mean or rude to someone, even if it takes me a day or so I will try to remember to apologize and see what I did wrong in the situation, sometimes I need someone to point it out to me... I call these my knucklehead momements.
10. This too is hard.. see number 5.

So from my comments above, I've got alot of work to do. ALOT! Just wanted to say thanks to my husband for always listening to me and teaching me and lovingly showing me the errors of my ways, and for being a great leader.

Walt Disney World 2008

So we recently made a trip to Walt Disney World. It was so much fun, we are already planning for next year. First of all, October was a perfect time to go, a tip I got from a friend who lived in Florida for 9 years. Second, I love MISD, which allows time for you to take your kid out of school for family vacations. Third, buying the book "Hassle Free Disney World Vacation 2008", was the smart thing to do, also another tip from a nurse at Eddie's hospital. Durning the next couple of days if I have time, I'll post some of our adventures.

Baby Update: 2 more months to go.... Crib is partially put together, my sanity is still in tact, so far, I feel great.

Emma: In my playroom.
Eddie: What were you doing?
Emma: Working on my laptop.

It's a Boy

We found out Monday that we will be having a Baby Boy.
My husband is so excited.

So now the name game. We think we narrowed down the first name.

Ready? It means "God's Gift" .... Jesse
Now all we need is a middle name, so your help is needed.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

The Birds and the Bees

Seeing that I'm pregnant and all, the first question out of Isabel's mouth was "How did that baby get in there?". So we explained that the baby was in mommy's uterus, which is by mommy's tummy. "But, how did that baby get in there?". Oh oh... what do we say???? So we search and search and came up with this. "When a husband and wife love each other, they hold each other in a special way, and make a baby." She seemed to be satisfied with that answer.

Fast forward 4 months....
Isabel is about to start school (public school). A good quality that Isabel has is her stubborness. You ask good??? Yes, because once she gets an idea in her mind she will not back down. She is fully convinced that what she knows to be true is. So our job as her parents is to fill her little mind with truth. Truth about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, what the bible says, what's right and what's wrong, etc....

So back to the birds and the bees... Since we are having a baby it is the perfect opportunity to open the discussion back up so that she doesn't get the wrong information from someone else....

I went and bought 2 books. "Why boys and girls are different" By Carol Greene (ages 3-5) and "Where do babies come from?" By Ruth Hummel ages (6-8). I got both of these at Mardel's... I read them both and I like them. The are part of Learning about Sex: a series for the Christian Family.

Can't wait until my husband reads them and then we'll read the age appropriate book to Emma and Isabel.

Mission Trip 2008 - Tijuana

Here is one of the videos from our mission trip. This video highlights the VBS (Vacation Bible School). We also built a house that week, but that is highlighted in another video. The location for VBS that we chose was a vacant lot behind a vacant yellow store. On the first day we had 35 kids, on the last day we had 117.
It was an amazing trip. This video was produced by Ryan Strong one of the missionaries that on our team that we had the privledge to lead. Enjoy.

Little White Box

Little White Box

(Use fingers to make a box)
I wish I had a little white box
To put my Jesus in
I'd take him out and kiss, kiss, kiss (put hand to mouth and act like you are giving Jesus a kiss)
And put Him back again.

I wish I had a little black box
To put the devil in
I'd take him out and smash his face(clap hands together, and yell smash his face)
And put him back again.

Please don't go girl

Ok, yes I was a New Kids on the Block fan. We lived in Odessa, and when my mom had an interview here in Dallas, it just happen to fall on the weekend that NKOTB were going to be in concert. So we got to come to the concert and eat at the Hard Rock Cafe. I thought I was so cool going back home with my concert t-shirt and wearning it the following Monday.

Summer Girls

Ok.. stole this idea from Chasing Amy... I'm not going to do 60 days in a row... but thought it would be fun to remember some of the cheesy songs I used to love as a kid...

What would you do?

I was at Sports Authority looking for some running shoes that were on sale. As I'm trying to decided which ones to get I hear this over the loud speaker.
"CODE 1 AT THE GUN COUNTER"

My cue to get the heck out of there.

What's cooler than a lion?

So at home we have teams. Eddie and Emma against Me and Isabel. In the beginning they were butterflies and we were dragonflies (I think). Anyways, they soon became lions. We have yet to find an animal to stick with. On Friday, we chose bumble bee, but then I didn't think that was furioucious enough so I said we were killer bees. Then I heard Isabel saying.. We're gonna kill you, cause we're killer bees. Yeah... probably not the best thing to say. I've got to come up with something better. The lions have their signature roar, and high-five with their paws, and even Emma will try to scratch. So we need suggestions on a team animal.

Speaking of lions...
Saturday, Isabel comes in my room whining that Emma scratched her, and I told her that she needed to be careful around baby lions... fast forward to 15 minutes later, after I got out of my shower Isabel saw my chest where I had been scratching. "Ooooh mama, you got scratched too.. was it a lion?"

New blog

I started one. It's my online journal between me and God. Each morning when I do my devotional I journal about what God is telling me and how I respond. Maybe one of these days I'll share the link with my kids so that they can read about the struggles that I've faced and how God has gotten me through them.

My Grandparents

My grandparents are moving to Mansfield this weekend and I can't wait. They currently live in Odessa which is 5.5 hours away, so we only get to see them twice a year. I moved away from Odessa when I was 15, that was 18 years ago. They will be living 4 minutes away. Yippeeee!!!!! I'm very close to my grandparents. I would stay at there house every weekend. On Saturday mornings, we'd go to McDonalds and then to the mall. On Sunday, we'd go to church and then go eat at Furr's Cafeteria.
It's because of my grandma that I know the Lord today. I remember her playing volleyball with me in the front yard, and sewing dresses for me. I remember always practicing spelling words with my grandpa (I would adminster the test to him). I remember everyday after school, I would make 2 icecream cones for my grandpa for him to eat when he got home from work. (I would catch the bus at there house).
Now they are in there late 60's early 70's and I finally get to see them everyday now. My grandma is the best cook. My grandpa was is an automobile accident 15 years ago, so now he's in a wheelchair. Thank God that workman's comp has provided income for them all these years. They were able to buy their new house in cash and were blessed to sell their exsisting house, to which they have lived in since 1955.
This house was a liquor store, and over the years with countless remodeling, it turned into a beautiful home and remains like that today. I can't believe I'm never going to go to Odessa again. Ok maybe for a funeral or something. Thanksgiving is going to be so cool here at my house and Christmas too... I so excited I can't wait.

Exhaustion

We I've just been totally exhausted, growing a baby is hard work. All I want to do all day is sleep, so it's a miracle that I'm posting anything. I've been praying for energy. Well I got some tonight. I actually put a load of towels in the washer and I cleaned the kitchen and living room. I hope this surge of energy continues, because my husband and sister have had to pick up the slack. Thank you both so much for understanding.

As we were eating lunch today, I told the girls that we were going on a Trip.

Isabel: Who?
Me: Daddy and Me
Isabel: By yourselves, without us?
Me: Yes
Isabel: We're going to stay here all by ourselves?
Me: No, your Tia Lily is going to come and stay with you.
Isabel: I'll pray about it.
Me: (Wondering what she was going to pray for) - Ok that would be good.
Isabel: I'll pray that ya'll won't get lost.

A TIME TABLE FOR LEARNING

A TIME TABLE FOR LEARNING

By Jean Warren

Every parent wants his or her child to do well in life. Most parents know that what a child learns before they enter school is just as important to future success as what they learn in school.

The problem as I see it, occurs when parents enthusiasm for helping their child succeed gets mixed up with trying to teach them things before they are developmentally ready.

Reading is a good example. Few children are ready to read before the age of six. Just because your child can recognize his name or points to the golden arches and says "MacDonalds", does not mean he or she has the skills to decode words at this time. In their natural concern to help their child, many parents try to push ahead their child's timetable for learning. This is usually done to prove to themselves and their friends and family just how advanced their offspring is. In rare cases, this may be true but most children need their preschool years for building brain connections.

Learning to problem solve, make connections between things, noticing likes and differences, learning to put things in order are the important things for preschoolers to be learning. These pursuits help children grow the circuits in their brains thus giving them the foundations for future learning. Don't waste your child's precious preschool years trying to jump start his learning. Give him the foundations now that will grow his mind so that he will be able to reach his full potential later on.

When you have the urge to push your child ahead, just remember the story of the little boy and the butterfly.

One day a boy found a challis (a butterfly cocoon) hanging from a tree. He was anxious for the butterfly to come out, so he decided to help him along. He carefully peeled back the layers of the cocoon and encouraged the butterfly to come out. But when the butterfly went to spread his wings, they only opened partially. The butterfly tried to fly off but couldn't because his wings had not been allowed to develop properly - in their own time.

In a young child's life, the first five years should be like a challis, a safe warm place where they are allowed to develop at their own rate, so that when they finally go off to school, they will be ready to fly!

Out smart the little ones

Emma has been doing fairly well with the potty. Her only issue (now don't get grossed out) is when she has soft poo poo. She always uses makes a mess in her panties. So Eddie has been "throwing away" toys when this happens. Yesterday he told me that he "threw away" another toy. He said she was like "ok". So I got the lowdown of the events. Evendently he was letting her pick the toy she wants to throw away... well that's not going to work. So at dinner I asked her what her favorite toy was.. she mentioned a new dog that her "Lita" gave her. At that moment it registered with Eddie what I was doing, and he called me "mean" and that I was "wrong".. oh well.. So I told Emma, tomorrow if you poo poo in your panties... then it registered with her what I was doing... she immediately shook her head no....

fast foward to today..
durning nap time I made her go potty before she laid down. she did pee pee. As she laid down she mentioned that her tummy hurt. I asked is she needed to go poo poo she said no... I reminded her that if he poo pooed in her pull-up (yes I made her put one on for nap time) that I would throw away that dog... Well 20 minutes later she came out of the room and said that she had to go potty. Guess what! She did soft poo poo in the potty. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess my tactics worked...

Installing Love

Tech Support: Yes, how can I help you?

Customer
: Well, after much consideration, I've decided to install Love.
Can you guide me through the process?

Tech Support: Yes. I can help you. Are you ready to proceed?

Customer: Well, I'm not very technical, but I think I'm ready. What do I do first?

Tech Support: The first step is to open your Heart. Have you located your Heart?

Customer: Yes, but there are several other programs running now. Is it okay to install Love while they are Running?

Tech Support: What programs are running?

Customer: Let's see, I have Past Hurt, Low Self-Esteem, Grudge and Resentment running right now.

Tech Support: No problem, Love will gradually erase Past Hurt from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory but it will no longer disrupt other programs. Love will eventually override Low Self-Esteem with a module of its own called High Self-Esteem. However, you have to completely turn off Grudge and Resentment. Those programs prevent Love from being properly installed. Can you turn those off?

Customer: I don't know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

Tech Support: With pleasure. Go to your start menu and invoke Forgiveness. Do this as many times as necessary until Grudge and Resentment have been completely erased.

Customer: Okay, done! Love has started installing itself. Is that normal?

Tech Support: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to begin connecting to other Hearts in order to get the upgrades.

Customer: Oops! I have an error message already. It says, "Error - Program not run on external components." What should I do?

Tech Support: Don't worry. It means that the Love program is set up to run on Internal Hearts, but has not yet been run on your Heart. In non-technical terms, it simply means you have to Love yourself before you can Love others.

Customer: So, what should I do?

Tech Support: Pull down Self-Acceptance; then click on the following files: Forgive-Self; Realize Your Worth; and Acknowledge Your Limitations.

Customer:
Okay, done.

Tech Support: Now, copy them to the "My Heart" directory. The system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching faulty programming Also, you need to delete Verbose Self-Criticism from all directories and empty your Recycle Bin to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.

Customer: Got it. Hey! My heart is filling up with new files. Smile is playing on my monitor and Peace and Contentment are copying themselves all over My Heart. Is this normal?

Tech Support: Sometimes. For others it takes awhile, but eventually everything gets it at the proper time. So Love is installed and running. One more thing before we hang up. Love is Freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to everyone you meet. They will in turn share it with others and return some cool modules back to you.

Customer: Thank you, God.

Conflict Resolution

This morning, on the way to church, the girls were arguing about who was older. Isabel ended the conversation with "Let's not fight anymore, because I don't want mom to say 'you're not going to get donuts'"..... smart girl.

This too shall pass

I pray for all who are going to some difficulty in their life. I pray that a year from now, whatever you are going through will be a distant memory. This too shall pass.

Tabata

Is the reason I'm still up, and can't sleep.
Is the best 16 minute workout ever.
Is why my husband is now fit as a fiddle
Is why I'm feel like my heart is about to explode.
Is why I'll probably be dead in the morning.

Tabata... google it.

Lessons learned from Vlad

So last week we went to the drive-in theater on a Monday night. We watched "Nims Island" and "Horton Heard a Who". I don't know if ya'll have seen the latter, but there are 2 characters named Vlad. The mean one (a vulture) and the bunny with cookies. So, the next night as we pull up to the driveway Eddie shots "Look Vlad". There was a bunny in our yard. So we park and get out to go and look for it. Well it was dark, and we could see it. My girls had their pen light out trying to find it. Then Eddie spots it in the street, it had gotten ran over by a car (that quick can you believe it) Anyways the girls were saying: Ohhh, poor bunny. I had to explain our rules about not running into the steet, because you can get smushed by a car and die, just like Vlad.
Well the next day, Vlad #2 was eating Vlad #1. so then I had to explain that vultures eat dead animals..... again (Ohhh poor bunny).

Pizza Hut is now Pasta Hut

How dumb is this.... How does a company with a known name change it... You don't fix what's not broken.

Here's the link to their website Pizza Hut now Pasta Hut

Other Praise

Eddie fixed his truck, by doing a chemical flush on the radiator... So do we sell it or keep it... By selling it we can pay off some debt. By keeping it we can use it to haul, stuff from home depot.
Hmmmm... since it is paid for, I think we're keeping it.

To God be the Glory

Guess what, with the Lord's help I found Isabel's DS-Lite, you know the pink video game that I was looking for on March 13th. So just like 10 minutes ago,
I was like: "God, why can't I find that game, I looked everywhere for it"
He was like: "You know what you've got to do."
I was like: "Ok, if it's not meant for me to find it, that's cool (as I'm thinking about how much money it cost). I'll just put it in your hands and be done with it. Watch I'll find it like in two years when we are doing spring cleaning for something"

So I started thinking about it again, and then it hit me, what if she took it to ballet and left it there, man that means it's gone forever. Then the thought occured to me that I never checked her ballet bag. The reason I never checked is because we hadn't taken it to ballet in a really long time. So I looked in the front pocket, and there it was. The video console with the extra game and the car charger. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Thank you Father, you are the best.

Clicking my heels isn't working

Well right now I'm in a hotel room watching "The Biggest Looser". Where I should be is landing at DFW airport. Unfortunately DFW airport is shut down because of weather. That means the earliest flight out of Madison is not until Thursday at 6:35 am. So I'm here another 2 days.

Well this gives me time to get some stuff that I need to get done for work done. And at night I've been putting together power point slides together for "Ressurection Day" our church service this Sunday.

I miss my kids, my husband, and working out. I can't workout here at the hotel because I didn't bring my tennis shoes. Oh well, I just have to workout Thurs, Friday, and double on Saturday.

I've got to run up to Target and buy "Enchanted" for Isabel and Emma.

Lost and Found

Has anyone seen this anywhere? I can't find it at my house. I've searched high and low, and in just about every box or drawer there is. It belongs to Isabel, we miss it. Pray that I find it.

One Big Party

This weekend was full of parties.

Thursday - Girls night out. Within the group of my friends we always have a girls night out for our birthdays. Tonight we went to see the movie "Definately, Maybe" and then we went to eat at a restaurant in downtown Ft. Worth called Cabo Grande. I didn't get home until 11:3o.

Friday - Party at my friends house, it was her birthday, she turned 11. Ok, she's really 44, but with the whole leap year thing she's only had 11 real birthdays. We ate and played games. It was great. Her theme was "Priceless", so all the gifts she received had to be made from the heart.

Saturday - Surprise party at an italian restaurant for my aunt who is turning 50. They are close friends with the owners, it was catered with Penna Pasta, pizza, cheese sticks, wings, salad. It was good. My mom made a delicious chocate moose cake. We made her an arrangement of chocolate covered strawberries.

Sunday - Right now our Sunday school class is here, we just did our bible study, right now Eddie went to go get pizzas and we are watching a movie.

Did I mentioned that I got and have had a headache all day, and not a little headache, but the one where it feels like a drum is beating in my head....... I'm tired, but it was a fun weekend.

I wish all days were like this....

Right now, I'm cooking lunch... tuna sandwiches. Eddie is working, I'm listening to the radio, the birds are chirping, and the girls are outside playing house. Ah to be a kid again. They have a playground set that I think is cool. We set the upstairs part of it like a living room and bedroom. 2 chairs, a blanket and 2 pillows. Below is a plastic kitchen with a table. They have been using the glider as their car, and the 2 swings as airplanes. Emma made a salad for Isabel.... They just finished picking flowers for their aunt and grandma. It's such a beautiful day. I made an arrangement of chocolate covered strawberries for my Aunt's 50th Birthday. Eddie dipped all the strawberries yesterday... Right now it's a beautiful day.

SAHWAHM*

... well at least for 2 days of the week. It was easy when I could do all my work the night before or they took 2 hour naps everyday. Now I have conference calls, sometimes in 3 hour blocks, so I got a cordless phone with a headset with a mute button. I love SuperWhy! and BlockBuster. Also both girls have pc's in my office so they can have computer time as well. I can't wait unitl it gets hot, so that I can work out on the patio while they play or swim.. I also take my laptop to Chicken Red's which has free wi-fi and they love to go to chicken red's. Also this summer my nephew will be staying with us, so eventhough he will only be 8 years old, I have already designated him the "nanny". Isabel will be in school in August, which only leave Emma at home for 2 more years. A 2 day a week preschool is probably in her future.

The 3rd time in my life

I locked my keys in my car with the car running. The first 2 times, my kids were in the car. Now my husband has to get the girls up, throw them in the van, and fight rush hour, so that I can unlock my car. And on top of that I don't think there is enough gas in the car, so hopefully it will last long enough for him to follow me to a gas station. I hope to accomplish this all before my 9:00 am meeting.

"Skinny B*tch"

Ok, I can already hear all the gasps. Yes I bought a book entitled "Skinny B*tch", and let me tell you this was a very informative book about the food that we eat. I was laughing at the way the authors presented the information, not only informative, but funny as well. Our family had already started incorporating more fruits and vegetables into our diet last year. As well as eating more natural food choices, like natural peanut butter, organic foods, more green veges, and ground turkey and chicken. After reading this book, my thinking on other foods that we eat has changed. I won't go into detail, but the information in this book is shocking. So I have the book if anyone wants to read it.

Side note: I've lost about 13 pounds and I'm on my way to becoming a "Skinny B*tch".

Corporate America

I don't like it. I hate having goals and being measured, politics.. I hate it all.
I want to quit my job. Why? The money is great, I get to work from home 2 days a week so that my kids don't have to be in daycare, I like the people that I work with. But there is still something missing. I don't fill fullfilled, I don't feel like I'm making a difference. I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up.

I give up

So after raving about Emma the other night, she did a 180 the following morning. After running around naked she decided to poop in the playroom. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I was very upset. So I give up. I've read so many things, and we've tried everying. So yesterday I put her potty in her playroom. I read somewhere that if you put it in the place they play at, it will be a constant reminder. Well when I got home my husband asked it I had put the potty in the playroom, I said "yes", he said because he had gone in there and noticed it had pee in it. So he asked Emma if she had pee pee'd in the potty and she said yes. So now that's my new strategy, I'm not going to bring it up anymore, if she needs to go hopefully she'll go on her own. My husbands concern was that she wouldn't wipe herself. At this point I don't care, it would be better than her running around in a wet pullup. But I just might leave the wipes next to the potty in case she wants to use those as well.

Polar F4

For Christmas I bought my husband the Polar F11 Heart Rate Monitor watch. He loves it, so I decided to get me one. I bought the F4 for women, mine doesn't do all that Eddie's does, but it does what I want it to do.

It keeps track of my heart rate and calculates how many calories I have burned. After a workout I can see what my min and max heart rate was and how many minutes I was in the target zone.

I used for the first time last night in my Zumba class. In 59 minutes I had burned 594 calories, my max rate was 182 and I was in target zone for 32 minutes.

I can't wait unitl my Total Toning class on Saturday, it will be interesting to see how many calories I burn there.

Chocolate milk for ransom

I've been holding out on giving Emma chocolate milk. I decided to hold in for ransome. See the first words out of her mouth each morning are "I want chocolate milk". Well she is over 3 years old and in May she was completely potty trained. Well there was a major change in her life, so she completely regressed. We've kept her in pull-ups because she would not poo poo in the potty. So I kept telling her all week that if she would poo poo in the potty, she would get chocolate milk.
Well guess what! Just 10 minutes ago she told me that she had to go potty and she went specifically to do poo poo. I was so happy for her. Way to go Emma. Hope you enjoy your chocolate milk tonight.
